02/01/2014

Hundreds of Form 7 students turned up at the Examinations Office at Selbourne Street in Suva today to obtain their Fiji Seventh Form Examinations (FSFE) results.

Ministry of Education permanent secretary, Dr Brij Lal said the passing rate for 2013 FSFE is 75.2 per cent.

“These are the provisional results, which are subject to change after recounts submitted by some students. As of now, the highest mark is well over 370,” Dr Lal said.

“To those students who have done well, I am urging you to get in touch with the tertiary institutions of your choice and work on your future education. To those that have not done well have a choice of repeating or looking at other courses.”

Sweta Kumar of Bilalevu, Sigatoka was accompanied by her parents, who were overjoyed with her marks. Sweta, a Jasper Williams High School student, said she had high expectations and was relieved by her parents’ reactions.

“Now that I have got my satisfactory results, I will take steps to pursue further education in environmental law at the University of the South Pacific (USP) in 2014,” Sweta said.

Dudley High School student, Amelia Likurauvula and her mother, Unaisi Waselai said they could not have asked for more.

“My daughter has done us proud with her marks. I am very excited and she has given us something good to look forward to in the new year. She wants to do further studies at the USP,” Ms Waselai said.

Suva Grammar student, Isikeli Manavure, said this school year was tough for him but he was satisfied with his marks.

“I have passed well and now I will concentrate on further education in mechanical hydraulic engineering at the Fiji National University (FNU). I have also applied for scholarships and am hoping to get one,” Isikeli added.

Students can also access their FSFE results on line on www.examresults.gov.fj.

A total of 6,898 students from 158 centers sat for the FSFE examination.

The Ministry of Education is also advising students and parents that the Fiji School Leaving Certificate Examination (FSLC) result should be known as early as January 14, 2014.

About 12,386 students sat for the examination in the 166 centers.

Students and principals can collect their respective results from the Examination Office at 9:00am on January 14, 2014.
