A long-awaited dream is finally becoming a reality for Suva SDA Primary School as the Minister for Education, Honourable Aseri Masivou Radrodro, joined the school community yesterday to officially break ground for the construction of a new multipurpose hall.
Minister Radrodro acknowledged the dedication of the school community especially the Parents and Teachers Association (PTA), who raised $110,000 through fundraising efforts. This was further supported by a $150,000 allocation from the Ministry of Education through the Free Education Grant, bringing the total investment to over $300,000.
Construction of the new hall will be undertaken by Konitiki Investment, with a planned completion timeline of four months. Once completed in early 2026, the hall will provide students with a safe and comfortable space for assemblies, physical education, school functions, and cultural programs. The facility may also be made available for community use.
The Honourable Minister emphasised that this project goes beyond just a building, it is a symbol of unity, vision, and shared responsibility. He highlighted that for years, students had to stand outside during events, and this new space will finally give them the dignity and comfort they deserve.
The event also included a strong message about the importance of community involvement in education. The Hon. Minister called on parents, teachers, and leaders to continue working together to support students and tackle broader social issues such as poverty, gender-based violence, drug abuse, and mental health challenges.
To the students, the Honourable Minister shared a message of encouragement, to take pride in their new facility, look after it, and let it inspire them to aim higher, in line with their school motto, “Something Better Each Day.”
The Ministry of Education remains committed to improving school infrastructure across the country and ensuring every Fijian child has access to quality education in a safe and inclusive environment.
