The Ministry of Education has ordered the closure of island schools and schools along the sea coast and low lying areas around Vitilevu and Vanua Levu.
This is in line with a warning from the National Emergency Operation Centre regarding a potential Tsunami to reach Fiji from Samoa.
Head teachers and Principals are to organize the disbursement of schoolchildren to their homes until further notice. Teachers are requested to see that children are sent straight home and not to loiter around the seashore or sea wall.
Head teachers and Principals of schools located on higher grounds are to see that classes continue. This instruction remains in force until further notice.
