Schools to celebrate double celebrations

Schools all over Fiji will celebrate both the Fiji Day and Education Day celebrations set for the 9th of October, 2009.

However there will be a central venue for both celebrations in Suva. .

About $75,000 has been set aside as budget for the celebration.

Representatives from various ministries are members of the organizing committee.

The Organizing Committee has tentatively come up with the theme, “Educating the Child Holistically for Peace, Change and Progress”.

The theme of the celebrations in Suva will focus on the students.

Proposed activities include the participation of students who took part in the specific competitions throughout the year.

Competitions include Oratory Contests, Singing and Dance Competition, Tadra Kahani, Kula Award and few others.

The celebrations provide an opportunity for schools to showcase their students’ ingenuity, talents and potentials.

Other displays include exposition of various units of the Ministry of Education, display of TVET and PEMAC work from selected schools.

Tertiary institutions such as FIT, FCAE,TPAF and USP are invited to display their wares as well.

Other stakeholders such as Mothers’ Club are also encouraged to participate.
