The Request Forms for the much awaited school transport assistance are finally out.
The Ministry of Education is calling on school heads both primary and secondary around the Nausori and Suva area to collect forms from their respective District Education Offices today, Monday 11th January, 2010.
Schools heads in the Western and Northern Divisions can collect their forms from tomorrow (Tuesday) from their Education District Offices.
The Post Fiji is assisting in the distribution of Transport Assistance Forms from all their outlets beginning today.
Parents and students are urged to collect the application forms and complete before returning them to their school on enrolment day for endorsement by the Head Teacher or Principal.
Forms that are not endorsed by the Head Teacher or Principal will not be considered.
The accuracy of information from the form mentioned above is critical to ensure that assistance is directed to targeted students.
Only those students from families, whose total household income is $15,000 or less, will be eligible for this transport assistance. However, special consideration will be given to those families above the $15,000 threshold provided good reasons are given for the hardship they face.
Their applications will have to be assessed by the Department of Social Welfare for the consideration of the Permanent Secretary for Education.
Minister for Education, National Heritage, Culture and Arts, Youth and Sports, Labour, Industrial Relations and Employment, Mr Filipe Bole
