Seaqaqa parents to be patient

10/03/2010

The Minister of Education, Mr Filipe Bole would like parents and students of Seaqaqa area in Macuata, Vanualevu to exercise some patience over the delay in the issuance of bus fare coupons.

Many students in these areas travel by carriers and minivans.

The Ministry of Education needs to have all these transport carriers in the rural areas licensed to legalise their operations.

This means Operators of transport carriers ought to have their vehicles approved first with a rural service licence before they can be considered to transport students to schools.

Only the Land and Transport Authority (LTA) has the authority to give that licence.

Meanwhile parents are encouraged to see that their children do not miss school.

Furthermore school principals and headteachers in the Seaqaqa area and others parts of the country whose parents and children face similar situations to personally approach owners of transport carriers to visit their nearest LTA offices and get their Rural Service Licence.

Mr Bole also wishes to let operators in the Seaqaqa area know that this service is a source of revenue to them and their willingness to take it up is much appreciated by the Ministry of Education.
