12/08/2011

Unruly elements that might want to take advantage of the Hibiscus Festival or anyone caught will face the full brunt of the law.

Chief Operations Officer, Assistant Commissioner of Police Henry Brown said the the Fiji Police Force would increase its manpower deployment to ensure that everyone was secure and safe during the festival.

The Hibiscus Festival, the largest carnival staged in the country, is also a melting pot of social interaction for people from all walks of life.

“The force is committed to seeing that these unscrupulous individuals do not get their way and upset people who are sincerely participating and enjoying a fund raising event that helps so many lives in Suva,” ACP Brown said.

“We have an effective strategy in place to ensure maximum coverage.”

The force will also have a booth at Albert Park, where members of the public are welcome to seek assistance or guidance, should they encounter problems at the festival.

The booth will also offer information on the various services the force provides to the nation.
