Seminar on 2011 Service Excellence performance - Chand

A half day seminar for all Permanent Secretaries, Deputy Secretaries and Heads of Departments on the Service Excellence Awards (SEA) Framework and the evaluation process will be conducted by the National Training and Productivity Centre (NTPC) formerly known as the Training and Productivity Authority of Fiji (TPAF).

The seminar will take place at the Big Committee Meeting Room at the Parliament Complex at Nasese next month beginning from March 2 for Permanent Secretaries, March 3 for Deputy Secretaries and March 4 for Directors.

Permanent Secretary for the Public Service, Mr Parmesh Chand said the seminar focuses on how the SEA framework is used to determine the levels of recognition for the awards and how Government agencies can improve on their overall organisational performance.

This year’s SEA 2011 programme will use the existing SEA framework which comprises of two parts namely the: Service Excellence Performance Criteria and the Guidelines for Application to the four awards competed for which are:

· Commitment to Service Excellence Award
· Achievement to Service Excellence
· Fiji Public Service Excellence Prize
· Prime Minister’s Award
The Service Excellence Performance criteria however focuses on organisational processors and is facilitated through the:

· The 12 Principles of Business Excellence
· The 7 categories of the Service Excellence Performance Criteria
· The 22 items that define performance oriented requirements
· The assessment and scoring guidelines that explains the assessment scope.
The Service Excellence Awards Framework is designed towards enhancing quality and productivity within government agencies through the development of a quality work culture within the Civil Service.

It also gives recognition to government agencies which show improved or excellent performance in their provision of service delivery.

The Service Excellence Awards is adapted from the Fiji Business Excellence Awards (FBEA)
