Singapore office trade request

14/10/2010

The Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama has heard a plea by business entrepreneurs who want a Fiji trade office to be established in Singapore.

A group of 15 businessmen and women from Singapore made the request when they met with the Prime Minister on Wednesday.

“We would love to have one trade office in Singapore because of our strategic location and it will help the Fiji Government in its look north policy,” a member of the visiting group said.

“Singapore and Fiji are very well placed and we need to thank God for that but we also need to take advantage of that to attract investors.”

The group heard that Fiji had recently opened a trade office in Beijing, China to further attract investors.

“But we will take that idea from the group and see where we can go from here,” the Prime Minister said.

Being well versed with their country’s laws, the delegation will push for the establishment of the office in Singapore.

“It will help lure more investors,” a member of group said.
