Special Day for PM

On a day special for women around the world, it was even more special for Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama who celebrated the day with his wife Mrs Mary Bainimarama.
 
Mrs Bainimarama was also on hand to support the Prime Minister as he inspected various booths set up by women in the North, which displayed their raw talent in artefacts and designs like mat weaving.
 
It was also the first time ever that Government brought celebrations out of Suva to a rural area in the North.
 
Commodore Bainimarama said the idea fitted in well with government’s intentions through the look North Policy, which targeted the uplifting of peoples livelihoods economically, socially and spiritually.
 
Commodore Bainimarama thanked the Minister for Women and officials for giving such an opportunity to the women in the North.
 
He said Government had allocated a lot to the Commissioner North's office and that was to ensure such opportunities as upbringing peoples lives, especially women and children were met.
