Student transport assistance update

19/03/2010

84, 358 students from 622 schools, to date, have qualified for the Transport Assistance Scheme.

This accounts for about 42 per cent of the country’s student population and about 68 per cent of all primary and secondary schools.

With very little change expected to these figures, the Ministry will round up its summative data analysis this week.

Schools are again reminded to submit their acquittals as soon as possible to ease the bus fare assistance processes.

On the same note, teachers in charge of coupons are reminded of the importance of keeping coupons in a safe place.

Should there be instances of missing coupons due to negligence, teachers in charge of the coupons will be surcharged.

Thus, it is only appropriate that due diligence be observed in the safekeeping of coupons.

At this stage, the Ministry extends its appreciation and gratitude to all our teachers for the great work they have been carrying out in the disbursement of coupons.

The results have not only brought smiles to parents and school children, but also bus companies.

Minister for Education, National Heritage, Culture and Arts, Youth and Sports, Labour, Industrial Relations and Employment, Mr Filipe Bole
