Students to bring own water to school

24/03/2011

School Head teachers and Principals are requested to remind students to bring their own water from home whenever there is water cut in the school.

The Minister of Education, Ambassador Filipe Bole said, “When a school is without water, classes are interrupted. Therefore head teachers and principals are requested to remind students to bring their own water to schools.”

“However in the case where water flow is interrupted without prior notification to school, school heads must immediately get in touch with their district education officers and inform them. Students must not be sent home without the permission of the Permanent Secretary for Education,” the Minister again said.

The Minister also said because of the water cuts incidents our schools are subjected to, the school management should be thinking of erecting water tanks in their schools. This according to the Minister is a perfect solution because teaching time is not lost.

The Education Ministry is hoping that the relevant authorities will take prompt action to restore water in affected schools whenever there is water shutdown.

The Ministry also hopes that everyone will work together so that students’ education remains priority.
