All evacuation centres in Tavua are now closed and all evacuees have returned to their respective homes and villages. A total of 584 evacuees including men, women and children were billeted in four evacuation centres in Tavua since yesterday. The DISMAC office has confirmed that these evacuation centres including Tavua Primary, Tavua Muslim, Tavua District and Tavua Community Hall are now closed. Another two evacuation centres in Ba are still active with another three in Nadi as well as the Girmit Centre and the Coronation church in Lautoka. The National Fire Authority offices in Ba have already begun their cleaning work at the Tavua Primary School as it is expected to be ready for normal classes by tomorrow ( February 3). Government is committed to ensuring that normal classes begin as soon as possible and that schools are ready for normal classes as soon as they are clear of evacuees. -ENDS-
