TD12F APPROACHING FIJI, GALE FORCE WINDS FOR ROTUMA

The National Disaster Management Office is advising those living on the Island of Rotuma to take extra precautionary measures as Tropical Depression 12F continues to move southeast of Rotuma as 7am today.

A damaging gale force winds with speed up to 90km/hr gusting to 130km/hr with high seas and damaging southerly swells.

Mariners are also advised to stay indoors and avoid travelling out to open seas.

TD12F and the associated trough of low pressure are expected to drift south and affect the northern and eastern parts of the group from tomorrow (Sunday).

In light of this the NDMO is advising communities on Rotuma to exercise precautions and prioritize safety until all threats associated with the Tropical Depression passes.
 
The National Emergency Operation Centre is working with the Divisional EOC Eastern to monitor the current situation.
