TORRENTIAL RAIN AFFECTING PARTS OF TAVUA AND NADI

The DISMAC Office is advising that parts of Tavua and Nadi are under flood waters following torrential rain over the last 12 hours.

In Tavua –Yaladro Flats and Mataniwai Road- and Qeleloa Road, Qeleloa Flat and the bus stand in Nadi are under water.

According to the Nadi Weather Office, more rainfall and thunderstorms will continue to affect Fiji as more rain bends move towards Fiji from the North West.

DISMAC is advising communities residing in low lying areas to be prepared in case rivers and streams rise up again and cause flooding as heavy rain has been recorded at all centres in the Western Division.

For Rakiraki, the weather is forecasted to be cloudy with slight breeze, Tavua – heavy rain, flooding; Ba – heavy rain; Lautoka – raining, windy; Sigatoka – heavy rain; Nadi - heavy rain, windy (may cause flooding).

Meanwhile, Tavua and Ba are still without electricity which went out after 2.00pm. A team from the Fiji Electricity Authority is currently at the scene to investigate the problem.
