At the investiture ceremony of Fiji’s 50th Anniversary of Independence commemorative medals, Fiji’s High Commissioner to Australia, Luke Daunivalu, represented the President of the Republic of Fiji and Chancellor of the Order of Fiji, in bestowing awards on two Fijians at the Fiji High Commission premises in Canberra.
High Commissioner Daunivalu commended Dr Swaran Lata Naidu and Dr Bijend Prasad Ram for their respective contributions to the health and medical services in Fiji over the years and for their continued support to the Fijian people.
It was a special occasion for the two recipients of the commemorative medals as both had undertaken training and acquired their medical qualifications at the same time, in what was then the Fiji School of Medicine.
At the ceremony conducted in the presence of family members and close friends, the two medical doctors were grateful to be recognised for their contributions to the nation’s development in the medical and related fields over the past decades.
Having served the medical profession in Fiji for many years and even after moving to Australia, they still maintain strong ties with the nation and contribute to our people and communities through capacity building, medical donations and strengthening institutional support.
