A Taiji expert is expected to arrive in the country today for a three-month coaching programme that will include the training of cabinet ministers.
This Taiji coaching programme is the outcome of the visit to Fiji by Mr. Liu Peng, the Chinese Minister in charge of General Administration of Sports in China this year.
Taiji is an internal Chinese martial art practiced for defense training and health benefits.
It has often been refered to as "moving meditation"—practitioners move their bodies slowly, gently, and with awareness, while breathing deeply.
A tentative Taiji training program has been drafted by the Department of Youth and Sports.
The program covers the coaching of Fiji public servants, general public as well as local Chinese community.
Interested learners from the Fiji Police Force and the Fiji Military Forces will also participate in the session during the Civil Service Weekly Programs normally held on Wednesdays.
Sessions for the Public will be at Sukuna Park in Suva at 9:00-11:00 and 14:00-16:00 every Saturday.
All locals are welcome to join any session.
Department of Youth and Sports officials are currently planning a welcoming ceremony at Sukuna Park in Suva for next week and it is expected an open Taiji training for the public will follow formalities.

Minister for Education, National Heritage, Culture and Arts, Youth and Sports, Labour, Industrial Relations and Employment.
