Take care during the break - Education Minister

05/12/2010

Another academic year has ended for students, who now look forward to their eight-week holidays.

The Education Minister, Mr Filipe Bole reminds students to take extra care during the holidays and to assist their parents in household chores.

“Choose your friends wisely and never give in to the negative pressures of fellow peers. Be wise and simply do the right thing,” Mr Bole said.

The minister added that students should get involved in worthwhile organised activities where they could positively contribute to society.

Clean-up campaigns, youth camps, work for non-charitable organisations or even holiday jobs at supermarkets are highly encouraged.

At home, backyard gardening could be a past time. Even at the family plantation, one can start up farm and ask fellow peers to assist.

There are a number of institutions that offer holiday classes/courses. For instance, John Wesley College’s organised baking courses, that were advertised in the newspapers lately.

For as much as they should enjoy the holidays, the ministry hopes students will engage in activities that have far-reaching benefits and rewards.
