Teacher rush for registration

27/08/2009

The process of registration of teachers is going on very well with teachers coming forward in numbers to register before the end of the month.

Teachers from the remote and rural areas are using this holiday period to register themselves with the Teachers Registration Board with some seeking provisional registration of one year while others are going for full registration which is for three years.

The timeline for serving teachers is the end of August to get themselves registered and any one who is not registered by then should not enter the classroom when school begins for Term 3.

A team from the TRB will be leaving for Lau on Sunday 6th September to register all teachers in the Lau schools as teachers from the area are finding it difficult to travel to Suva during the school holidays.

All new graduates who wish to have teaching as their profession must register with the TRB before they can be absorbed by the Ministry of Education for teaching duties.

The TRB is now a permanent structure of teacher recruitment in the country and it is important that all intending teachers know how to register as this will be their gateway to becoming a teacher.
