Teachers and students stay home

29/11/2010

All schools in Fiji today are closed until further notice and students and teachers are advised to stay safe at home.

Because of the current adverse weather conditions affecting the schools in many parts of Fiji, it is only appropriate that all schools are to be closed and all programs scheduled for today postponed.

Further, the weather forecast continues to advise gale force winds and deteriorating weather conditions spreading to other parts of Fiji in the next 24 hours.

Under the circumstance, teachers and children have been advised to stay home until further notice.

Officers of the Ministry in the 4 Divisions and 9 Districts, as usual, will make progressive reports on the state of affairs in their respective stations. This will allow the Ministry to make an informed decision on the actions to take with regard to resumption of school.

Parents are also advised to keep children at bay to avoid accidents and nasty situations, the latest being the drowning incident, involving a young boy at Nadera last Saturday.
