Teachers reaching 55 to retire in December

The Minister of Education, Filipe Bole is pleased to announce to all teachers who are retiring this year to remain in school until the end of the year.

The Public Service Commission gave a blanket approval for teachers reaching the age of 55 this year (2010) to be re-engaged until December when school ends. 

The Prime Minister’s office is aware of this approval.

The Minister said this latest approval from PSC will ensure that classes will not be disrupted particularly examination classes.

All teachers reaching the age of 55 years will continue teaching in schools while they wait for their letters and contracts in schools which will all be forthcoming.  

District Education Officers have been informed not to send retiring teachers home upon reaching their 55th birthday. They are to remain at school waiting for their letters and contracts.
