Teachers are reminded to pay close supervision to their charges while in the classroom or on the playground.
Children must be seen and heard at all times because of Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
Minister of Education, Mr Filipe Bole made the call to all teachers as school complete the eighth week of the term.
“Since we are on the eighth week of the school term, teachers are advised to keep a close supervision on the children both in the classrooms and on the ground. They have to be watched at all times, ”Mr Bole said.
“Under the OHS regulations, teachers have their duty of care to their children. That must be at the back of their minds at all times. Grievances must be addressed quickly and effectively to avoid unpleasant experiences.”
Mr Bole also advised teachers to communicate and dialogue with parents over issues affecting their children when the need arises. At all times they are to remain professional in their approach towards parents and seek further guidance from their District Education Offices if and when needed.
