Termite taskforce contain LTC

12/05/2010

Parts of Lautoka Teachers College have been infested with the deadly Asian Subterranean Termite.

This was confirmed yesterday as a team deployed by the termite taskforce was sent to the area to conduct an area survey following reports by College staff of infestation. The team led by Cpl. Emosi Delana of the RFMF also found two other trees in the LTC compound infested by the termites.

The team immediately cordoned off the area and advised the College Principal of the find and its implications. Staff and students of the College have been advised to keep away from the bio-security area.

Two staff quarters were also likely to be infested with termites and the team will continue its area survey of the College today. The taskforce is thankful to residents of Lautoka who have taken the initiative to report signs of infestation in their residences to the National Operations Command Centre at the Commissioner Westerns Office.

Complaints or queries on the termite infestation can be directed to the Operations Centre Hotline 6281553 or 6286198.
