The Tui Nasikawa Ratu Taniela Gonerara is offering 10,000 acres of unused land to the Department of Lands ‘Land Bank’.
In a meeting with the District Officer Keyasi, Mr Enele Malele at Nawairabe Village, the Tui Nasikawa expressed his intention to offer the land to Government to introduce suitable businesses activities in the area.
“The noble intention by the Tui Nasikawa should be commended upon, because it’s going to benefit his people through lease money, rather than lying idly with no returns,” Mr Malele said.
“Now that the youths of Nasikawa are giving up Marijuana cultivation following a workshop last month, it is only suitable for the same land to be utilised commercially.”
Turning unused land for economic activities is being advocated by Government to raise the living standard of rural people.
