21/12/2009

The Ministry of Education wishes to advise our teachers, school managers, parents and guardians and the general public, that as from next Monday, December 21, its Curriculum Advisory Services Unit (CAS) and the Technical Vocational and Educational Training (TVET) will provide their services at Waisomo House, beside Marela House at Thurston Street.

This is an initiative to bring all educational services within a locality and in the process assist all education stakeholders, especially teachers, in accessing critical services.

CAS has 6 units which include:
1.   Curriculum Development Unit (CDU)
2.   Careers
3.   Education Resources Centre (ERC)
4.   Schools Broadcast Unit (SBU)
5.   Basic Education Management & Teacher Upgrading Project (BEMTUP)
6.   Kindergarten Curriculum Consultancy

Apart from the above units, two  important projects which are  also attached to CAS  are the Citizenship Education Project and Family Life Education Project.

TVET is in charge of technical subjects such as Industrial Arts, Home Economics, Computing and Vocational Studies subjects.

CAS is currently housed at Vinod Patel Building while TVET is at  Ham Narm Building, Suva Street.

At present, all enquiries regarding services provided by the two Units would be available if one contacts the Ministry’s telephone number: 3314477
