Teachers will be posted to a school for no longer than seven years or two ‘tours.’
The Ministry of Education reiterated this with Minister Filipe Bole saying a teacher may remain in a school for no longer than two tours.
He said a ‘tour’ was three years and it was only physically and emotionally healthy for teachers to move on to a new environment after serving a maximum of two tours in a school.
“To avoid becoming too contented in a particular work environment, it is best to move on and around schools within the country and share knowledge gained. Facing new challenges in other schools will certainly excite one’s teaching experience,” Mr Bole said.
“This will make one a better teacher and most importantly, students will become richer in terms of knowledge and values.”
