The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation today received a selection of reference books from the British High Commission to assist their work on diplomacy, foreign policy and international relations.

“The books and the reading materials that we are receiving today will greatly assist all of us in enhancing and enriching our knowledge and understanding of international relations and diplomacy particularly in the 21st century where there is rapid changes, new emerging challenges and issues shaping the international relations landscape,” said Permanent Secretary Ms. Saipora Mataikabara.

Acting British High Commissioner Martin Fidler said the High Commission was pleased to assist the ministry in acquiring the books, adding that the books were also used by British Foreign & Commonwealth Office staff.

Commenting on the book ‘Satows Diplomatic Practice’ one of the books handed over, Mr Fidler said, "this is an indispensable guide for anyone working in or studying in the field of diplomacy and foreign affairs."

The two sides also discussed cooperation in training and education in the UK for Fiji Foreign ministry staff and other impending high level British Foreign Office Fiji visits.
