Visibility and promotion of service, a government priority

10/07/2011

Members of the public continued to take advantage and seek assistance from the Prime Minister’s office exhibition underway at the Government Information and Referral Centre (GIRC) this week.

The weekly exhibition of services and programs is part of government’s overall plan to heighten and promote its visibility to members of the public.

Prime Minister’s office deputy secretary Mr Nemani Mati, said this year’s participation was well coordinated and an excellent opportunity for members of the public to understand the workings of the five divisions of the PM’s office given the centrality of GIRC’S location.

“Currently, representatives from the five divisions are present to assist members of the public, at the same time, a live talk back show conducted by the Fiji Broadcasting Corporation Limited in the three languages on
government’s services was conducted each day and the response from the public has been overwhelming,” Mr Mati said.

“Our Strategic Framework for Change and Coordinating Office has been informing the public both on air and at the booths on the
Peoples Charter and how the Roadmap for Democracy and Sustainable Socio-Economic Development is being implemented to create and guarantee a better Fiji for all”.

Mr Mati said this was a great initiative because the public’s perception of the role and functions of the PM’s office broadens and they are given a chance to understand the various divisions that operate under the ambit of the office.

“Moreover, this is a one time opportunity when all divisions come together and we are encouraging everyone to come and talk to us and find out the services that we offer.”

The five divisions represented at the Exhibition are Cabinet Office, Poverty Eradication Unit, Development Cooperation and Facilitation Unit, Policy Analysis Unit, Strategic Framework for Change and Coordination Office.

The exhibition closes tomorrow, July 9, 2011.
