Lautoka residents have been urged by its Special Administrator to be present at the feedback forum for the draft constitution today (Wednesday 10th April 2013).
Lautoka special Administrator Praveen Bala pointed out that the public should fully utilise this opportunity to take part in this constitution process and contribute positively towards it.
“I would like to request the public in Lautoka to come and hear what is in the draft constitution. This is the first time for a draft constitution to have the public as its Constituent Assembly and the people must take ownership and pride in contributing positively towards a better Fiji,” Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said.
“This forum will provide the platform to clear any doubt and the people must hear it from the Attorney General as he is taking time out to discuss the matter at the grassroot level.”
Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed – Khaiyum is scheduled to make the presentation and will also carry out informal talks following his presentation. He has been carrying out awareness forums around the country on the draft constitution with the latest in Labasa. These forums are designed to allow the public to present any queries or feedback to the Attorney General on the draft document.
The Prime Minister has also urged every Fijian to contribute towards the final Constitution by providing feedback through various platforms including a texting service to the mobile number 02, emailing or sending written submissions to the Solicitor General’s Office and via social website Facebook (Ministry of Information page).
