The Minister for Youth and Sports Honourable Laisenia Tuitubou yesterday completed his first round of visitation of youth groups in the Western Division.

While in the Western Division, the Honourable Minister for Youth and Sports Laisenia Tuitubou visited youth groups in parts of Yasawa, Legalega, Nanoko, Kubuna, Emuri, Natalaicake and Saioko.

Mr Tuitubou reiterated the same message to the seven communities he visited which was that of government’s commitment to the development of young people in the country.

“Government is committed to the development of youths in the country and we will continue to visit youth groups until we have covered all the youth groups regardless of where they are situated,” he said.

“We have visited Vanua Levu and met with youths in Bua and Macuata but have yet to visit Cakaudrove and we will also visit youths in Lau and Kadavu and conclude with the Central Division as it is closer to us to gauge how best we can improve our services to the youths,” he added.

Minister Tuitubou also reiterated the importance of registering with the ministry in order to receive assistance from all government departments and ministries.

“Once you have registered with the ministry, you will have access to all of government’s assistance and that is why registering with us is important because we can provide support for further assistance from other government departments,” he said.

“There are a lot of programmes available with the ministry to develop youth groups in order to generate income and develop young people.

Mr Tuitubou also urged the youth groups he visited to make full use of their available resources in order to generate income and to become self-employing.

The Minister also held informal talanoa sessions with youths and members of the seven communities whereby their needs were discussed and how best the ministry could assist with their requests.
