Members of the Nausori Wheelbarrow Association have been urged to aspire to greater things and work hard to achieve better things as an organisation.
While handing over uniforms to wheelbarrow boys in Nausori today, Minister for Youth and Sports Hon. Laisenia Tuitubou called on them to set targets so that the duties carried out by them are worthwhile.
Minister Tuitubou said Government will continue to support the association and provide them with all the services.
“Work together because you can achieve so much more as an association rather than as individuals and be proud of what you do and all that you have achieved so far because this is your hard earned efforts,” Minister Tuitubou said.
He urged the youths to actively engage in development works in their communities.
“I wish to also make a call to all of you to work with all Government offices, especially our hardworking Police Department. You are their eyes and ears on the ground. This is in itself an added responsibility that I am putting on your shoulders and I ask that you do not take this lightly.
“Be reminded that this Government does not look down upon anyone; we are inclusive of all Fijians regardless of your ethnicity, your social background, your status in the community, your culture or your religious beliefs. We will reach out to all Fijians no matter how isolated you may be. Government is committed to reaching out to you and availing its services to you,” Minister Tuitubou said.
Minister Tuitubou acknowledged the association for their contribution to the society over the years and being an integral part of Nausori Town.
Nausori Wheelbarrow Association president, Tevita Ravavai said the handing over of uniforms was significant because it portrayed unity between Government and the people of Fiji.
“I am deeply thankful for this assistance as it will now motivate the members to carry out their job with pride,” Mr Ravavai said.
