Youth in Fiji have been reminded on the importance of developing resilience to face the challenges causes by the COVID-19 pandemic by the Ministry of Education, Heritage and Arts.
Young people worldwide are today celebrating the World Youth Skills Day which was designated by the United Nations General Assembly in 2014, to raise awareness on the importance of investing in youth skills development.
The Ministry of Education, Heritage and Arts, Technology and Employment Skills Training (TEST) Unit is responsible for providing youth with the skills required to access the world of work, including skills for self-employment. A number of technical and vocational educational programmes are offered at schools and tertiary institutions that empower students to become job creators rather than job seekers.
During these unprecedented times it is important for the youth to develop skills that will help them shape their future.
Minister for Education Hon. Rosy Akbar is also reminding young people to showcase their adaptability and resilience during this challenging times and take advantage of the programmes provided by the Ministry to acquire skills for the workforce and self-employment.
