STATEMENT FROM THE WATER AUTHORITY OF FIJI The Water Authority of Fiji will carry out maintenance and interconnection works at the Waila Water Treatment Plant on Saturday, 19/03 as part of the upgrading works at this facility.
This will mean disruption to supply to all those supplied from the Wainibuku, Tovata and Raralevu reservoirs. Areas affected include the Suva-Nausori corridor up to Nabua 3 Miles, Rewa Delta and Tailevu South.
The interconnection works include the pipe connections tot to the Navitoka Reservoir, which is located at the Waila 3B Housing Sub-division. Following the completion of these works, improved water supply will be experienced by those living in the vicinity. The reservoir will also supply water to the proposed Waila City area.
Apart from this, final touches to the maintenance work inside the refurbished treatment plant will be carried out. Works are expected to take up-to 10 hours to compete and if all goes well, very few or no customer will experience any disruption. However, all customers are advised to store water to minimise any inconvenience due to the works.
Meanwhile, interconnection works will also be carried out at the Tamavua Treatment Plant on Thursday, 17/03. This will mean disruption to water supply for areas supplied from the plant; Tamavua, parts of Samabula, Lami and Delainavesi.
Expected disruptions include, intermittent supply where supply will be provided at certain times of the day or in the evening. Supply may be diverted to certain areas at certain times to ensure that residents are able to store water.
Water carting will be provided for those in the affected areas however residents are advised to store water throughout the week to minimise disruption as much as possible.
Part of the upgrading works includes the Leak Detection works that is also being conducted. The Leak Detection Unit detects leaks in the system as a means to identify the unaccounted for water that contributes to reduced supply to areas.
The Leak Detection Unit will be working on the Wairua line valve (Master Meter) from 10pm to 2am tonight into tomorrow morning.
The affected areas include Delainavesi, Lami Area & Veisari Area
