The Minister for Education Filipe Bole has confirmed that Wainimala Secondary School will be upgraded to Form Seven once all groundwork is assessed and completed.
This was disclosed by the minister while on tour in Naitasiri with the Minister for Works and Transport Colonel Timoci Lesi Natuva.
Mr Bole said rural schools countrywide have been upgraded and those that were up to Form Four level have been given grants to make extensions to cater for students up till Form Six.
“Any school that has completed all the ground work for upgrading can apply to be assessed,” he said.
“This should include facilities such as laboratories for physics, chemistry and biology and facilities including libraries, teachers quarters and
other amenities.”
While discussing with villagers of Udu, Waitabu, Nadovu and Nasalia Mr Bole was informed that the Ratu Alipate Memorial School had stopped receiving benefits from Government.
Some of these benefits include grants for the completion of their school building block and teachers’ quarters.
“I will look into the matter and try and get the projects completed,” Mr Bole said.
Close to 400 students attend the two schools located in the upper reaches of Naitasiri.
