Water shortages - teachers to use discretion

24/06/2010

The Ministry of Education is concerned about children being sent home for lack of water from schools. This is not always a good option because it leads to children missing a whole day of classes.

Parents and teachers are advised that at times like this, children can be asked to bring their own water from home. This will allow children to remain at school for at least half a day attending classes before they are sent home.

School managements are also advised to install water tanks at school. It is their responsibility to see that schools have water.

The Ministry also wishes to advise school managements that grants received from government are meant for purchasing important items like water tanks. Investment in such items would ensure that classes are not disrupted during water shortag
