Establishing a freight company with only $200 in 2017 has not been easy for Krishneel Kumar, one of Fiji’s youngest entrepreneurs as the director of CGM Freights.

Today, the 31-year-old has branches not only in Fiji but in Australia, New Zealand, China, Japan, Singapore, and India, and he aims to open another branch in Hong Kong by next year.

In addition to his success, Mr Kumar recently opened his $250,000 freights custom bond warehouse in Naikabula, Lautoka.

Reminiscing back to the age of 23, Mr Kumar explained that he was looking at exports, imports and the freight business in Fiji.

“I had just finished high school, and the only thing on my mind was that freight will never stop, and I thought about what I could do to develop the sector further,” he said.

Mr Kumar stated after completing high school, he needed to choose his career path, and shipping came to mind. He started his office in Suva and then opened up an office in New Zealand. His company is now operating from China at 67 percent.

“Around 37.2 percent of our imports are coming from India, so there was a need to open an office in Mumbai,” added Mr Kumar.

“My next aim is to go into the Pacific Island countries to help clients and facilitate in bringing freight prices down.”

Mr Kumar highlighted that CGM is here to support people and if anyone wants to import anything, they will assist with the trust between the shipper and the buyer.

Attorney-General and Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, was at the opening of the CGM warehouse and commended the young Fijian for his achievements.

“A lot of young people can only be job seekers, not job creators, and he has obviously proven that you can do it at an early age if you have the drive, the fortitude, the vision, you will get to your destination,” expressed the Minister of Economy.
