It is indeed an honour and a privilege to stand before you today as we launch an extraordinary event—The AdventureNEXT Fiji. As we come together to celebrate the power of adventure and exploration, we are reminded of our Fijian philosophy of "Toso Vata", which means moving together. This core belief is woven into the very fabric of our culture, where unity, collaboration, and communal cooperation are at the heart of everything we do.
 
Today, as we embark on this journey, we do so with open arms, inviting the world to experience the wonders of

Fiji—our pristine landscapes, our rich culture, and our unparalleled hospitality. AdventureNEXT is about more than just travel. It is about forging connections, sharing experiences, and building a future where adventure tourism flourishes, not only for the benefit of visitors but for the enrichment of our communities.
 
Before I proceed further, I would like to take a moment to acknowledge and thank the Adventure Travel Trade Association for venturing into this exciting market that Fiji offers. Your dedication to promoting adventure tourism globally, and now here in Fiji, creates tremendous opportunities for both local operators and international adventurers.

We are grateful for your support in showcasing Fiji as a destination brimming with potential. Additionally, we extend our heartfelt thanks to Tourism Fiji for facilitating this event and playing a pivotal role in bringing this global platform to our shores.

Fiji – A Natural Destination for Adventure
Fiji is a land of discovery. From the lush, green rainforests that cloak our mountains to the vibrant coral reefs that fringe our shores, our islands are a treasure trove of natural wonders waiting to be explored. Yet, it is not just our landscapes that beckon adventurers—it is the spirit of our people. Fijians have always been explorers at heart, and today, we continue this tradition, welcoming travelers from across the globe to share in our adventures.
 
AdventureNEXT promotes emerging destinations by shining a light on the hidden gems of the world, and Fiji is proud to be part of this global movement. Through initiatives like the Tour Operator Marketplace and Adventure Familiarization (FAM) Trips, local operators will have the opportunity to showcase the best of what Fiji has to offer.

From guided hikes through our tropical rainforests to cultural immersions in our villages, visitors will discover not just a destination but a way of life deeply rooted in community and connection.

One of the greatest strengths of AdventureNEXT is its ability to facilitate connections—between local suppliers, international buyers, and the global media. This event creates a platform for collaboration, where ideas are exchanged, partnerships are formed, and new opportunities are created.
 
The Networking Opportunities provided here are invaluable, and I encourage everyone to take full advantage of the spontaneous conversations and scheduled meetings that will shape the future of adventure tourism in Fiji.
 
Together, we have the chance to elevate Fiji’s standing on the world stage, not just as a tropical paradise, but as a leader in adventure tourism—a sector that is rapidly expanding and holds great potential for economic growth.

Economic Growth through Adventure Tourism
Tourism is a cornerstone of our economy, contributing nearly 40% of Fiji’s GDP and providing livelihoods for 120,000 Fijians. The success of our tourism industry is vital to our national well-being, and the Coalition Government has been dedicated to improving the infrastructure that supports this growth.
 
From new roads and bridges to enhanced accommodations, we are creating the foundation upon which a thriving tourism industry can continue to grow.

Adventure tourism or as some may call it, Experiential Tourism in particular, represents a key area for expansion. The world is seeking more than just traditional travel experiences—people are looking for connection, discovery, and adventure.

Fiji’s diverse offerings—our mountains, rivers, reefs, and villages—provide the perfect setting for these experiences, and AdventureNEXT is the platform that will help us share them with the world.
 
Sustainability and Our Commitment to the Future
As we move forward, we are committed to ensuring that the growth of tourism in Fiji is sustainable. Our efforts include investments in green transport and climate- resilient infrastructure, which will not only protect our environment but also enhance the overall visitor experience.
 
Adventure tourism must be more than just a way to boost the economy—it must also be a way to protect and celebrate the natural beauty and cultural heritage that make Fiji so special.
