Colleagues
Friends and
Supporters of FENC.

Ladies and Gentlemen

I am privileged and count it an honour to address you today. Your presence here this morning is more than just attendance; it is a demonstration of our mutual dedication to uplifting the most vulnerable in our society.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

The Foundation for the Education of Needy Children (FENC) merits recognition for its outstanding efforts. As a voluntary, non-political, and non-profit organization, FENC has become a beacon of hope for those most in need.

Its mission is straightforward: to support Fiji's poorest individuals who face significant challenges and often find themselves marginalized, struggling against adversity.

You have tirelessly provided educational and related support to the children of the poorest families. This year alone, you have impacted the lives of 6,300 students, from Class 1 to Form 7.

Your work goes beyond numbers, touching the hearts and minds of these young learners. You focus on reaching needy children in rural and remote areas, ensuring that no child is left behind.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I can imagine the joy on the faces of those children as you hand them backpacks filled with exercise books and stationery. These seemingly simple items symbolize hope, opportunity, and a brighter future.

Your commitment to providing childcare assistance and back-to-school support is a lifeline for families facing financial hardships, showcasing your unwavering dedication to making education accessible to all.

But your vision at FENC extends beyond the classroom. Your major projects involve establishing learning centers in partnership with        the Ministry of Education's community hubs. These centers will provide safe spaces for learning, nurturing creativity, and fostering growth.
Additionally, your financial literacy training and sewing skills that you provide to single mothers and parents— the unsung heroes of our communities, is highly commendable.

Empowering them means empowering their children and breaking the cycle of poverty.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

In this digital age, knowledge holds immense power. FENC, in collaboration with the Coalition Government is actively exploring avenues to enhance digital learning capabilities within our communities.

The aim is to ensure everyone remains informed, connected, and equipped to confront the challenges of the modern world. Together, we will eliminate barriers and establish a level playing field for all our children.

Speaking of unity and common purpose, let's take a moment to consider the impactful walkathon that took place in Suva last April, drawing the participation of Mrs. Salaseini Daunabuna, the Permanent Secretary for Tourism and Civil Aviation.

Witnessing private individuals, corporate partners, and children joining forces for a shared objective was truly heartening. Their footsteps resonated with resilience, determination, and hope.

Let us persist in walking together, hand in hand, step by step, towards a Fiji where every child is given the opportunity to thrive.
Ladies and Gentlemen,

I don’t want to bore you with a long speech and so to conclude, let FENC's unwavering commitment inspire each and every one of us.
Let's celebrate their achievements and recognize the immense potential within our vulnerable communities. Together, we can turn challenges into opportunities and dreams into reality.

Vinaka vakalevu, and may our collective efforts continue to light the way for those who need it most.

Vinaka and thank you.
