Bula Vinaka and warm greetings to all of you!

I am delighted to join in this handing-over ceremony this morning.

I am also glad that you have gathered here in numbers to witness the official handing-over of grant under our Income Generating Project programme.

This week the Korean International Cooperation Agency handed over grant towards youth club recipients selected from the Northern, Western and Central Divisions.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports has allocated this budget towards the procurement of necessary equipment needed to assist these youth clubs in starting their income generating projects.

Today, I’m happy to handover this grant to Vanuakula Youth Club and the Youth Farm Initiative assistance to Natalecake Village Youth Club.

The youth are an integral part of any society, and they have an important role to play. Any society is incomplete without the participation of young blood. As is rightly said, “youth are the leaders of tomorrow” as they are the face of our community, society and country at large.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
With our support, our youth must concentrate on empowering themselves so that they can build a brighter future for our country.

A country can only reach its full potential, its bright future, when its youth are hardworking and forward-thinking. The youth whose moral values are instilled in them, the education and training they receive, and their good health will enable them to achieve great things.

The future belongs to our youth, who are leading the way forward with innovations and change. In order to excel, they only need the right guidance and the right opportunities.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
Investing in the future generations of our country is a smart investment by the Fiji First Government, as it is not only forward looking but provides an opportunity for our youths to actively participate in the growth of our economy.

Through such programmes and initiatives we are putting our faith in our youth, we are giving recognition to their skills and abilities and we are saying you are the ones who will lead the nation to a strong and prosperous future.

At this juncture, I wish to congratulate these youth clubs for successfully meeting all the requirements under our programmes and wish them the very best in their future endeavors.
