Bula Vinaka Ba and a very good morning to you all

Today, we gathered for the Signing & Contract Awarding Ceremony for Re-development of Govind Park Project – Phase 2.

We appreciate all of you taking out time from your schedules and sharing this special day with us. Many would think a contract signing is not a big event, but for the people of Ba, the redevelopment of Govind Park is something they have been waiting for.

Ladies and Gentlemen, this project resumed for Phase 2 on 28 August 2023, with the engagement of the Lead Consultant Permal Consultants Pte Limited.

I acknowledge Mr. Roveen Permal for his work so far for the Govind Park Project and I am optimistic that the project will finish within the timeframe.

My Ministry is working with the Ba Town Council team to support similar projects, for the people of this soccer crazy town of Ba, who are eagerly waiting for the opening of the Govind Park.

The redevelopment of Govind Park - Phase 2 will include the construction of:

o modern amenities, especially the turf, o enhanced seating arrangements,
o improved accessibility, and
o advanced safety features.

These upgrades are designed to provide a superior experience for all users, whether they are athletes, spectators, or community members attending various events.

The Contractors were selected through Government Tender Board. This was after recommendation by the Council- led Cross-Ministerial Project Working Committee and pursuant to Government and Council Procurement Policies.

The Lead Project Consultant has been working for several months pulling together the concept, detail drawings and helping in appointing the Construction Company and today we are here to award the contractors and signing of the contracts.

To the Contractors Western Builders Limited and Heritage Fiji, I, congratulate both on your appointments for the redevelopment of the Govind Park Project – Phase 2.

Today, I am proud of what we have accomplished under my Ministry, to start with the Phase 2 of the Govind Park Project, and I also know people of Soccer Crazy Town of Ba are eagerly looking forward to this Modern Stadium.

As we move forward, I urge all stakeholders to remain committed to the highest standards of quality and safety.

With these words, I acknowledge the Ba Town Council, Permal Consultants, my team at the Ministry of Local Government, Fiji Procurement Office who have contributed to making this phase 2 project a reality by appointment of the contractors. Your dedication and hard work are greatly appreciated.
